Taoism and the Arts of China, the catalog for a blockbuster show in Chicago, represents an explosion of recent research into Taoism, China’s most important indigenous religion and one of the world’s oldest mystical traditions. Western scholars and Chinese intellectuals have tended to regard Taoism as folk religion, colored by magic and superstition, yet it is based on a sophisticated philosophy dating back 2,500 years to the teachings of Laozi. Taoism has no supreme being, though gods and goddesses were invented to put a recognizable face on the infinite Void of the Tao ("the Way")

The Book of Enoch is an old composition considered a pseudoepigraphal work (a work that claims to be by a biblical character). The discovery of the texts from Qumran Cave 4 has finally provided parts of the Aramaic original of the .Book of Enoch. This discovery is very important because it eliminates doubts about the Book of Enoch, which was considered a medieval forgery in the past. The Enoch fragment found (4Q201) was copied around 200-150 BC.

Ever since its appearance in 1830, the Book of Mormon has been a contentious volume. Claimed by millions of Latter Day Saints to be a record of the ancient Israelites and their journeys in the Americas, this volume has earned its place amongst the classics of apocryphal biblical literature. Here is reprinted the original 1830 edition of this revered text, uncorrected, undoctored, and unimproved. It is an important re-source for comparison with the current "official" edition published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At once scandalous and devotional, the Book of Mormon conti

Customer Reviews:I just read the third edition of this book, which I found when looking for a book I read some time ago but could not recall -- it was about "sociopaths" and included a long section on Alexander the Great and Swinburn. It might have been a different edition of this book, which is an excellent and entertaining (in a way) read. The case studies, which comprise most of this 595-page book, are hard to put down, they are so interesting. I wish all psychologists wrote so well! Some of the other reviews here puzzle me, especially the one identifying this as a study of Fetal Alcohol Sy

A Commentary on the Book of Revelation - Volume 1 The author presents a detailed study of the Book of Revelation emphasizing prophetic themes from the rest of the Bible which find their fulfillment in Revelation. To understand this controversial book, the author explores the many connections between the visions seen by the Apostle John and previous prophetic revelation given to Old Testament prophets such as Daniel, Ezekiel, and others. It is the author’s conviction that an understanding of related passages elsewhere in the Bible is the most important key to unlocking the bewildering v
